Let’s VEGANIZE a classic Beer Cheese! This stuff is great for dippin’ or for drizzlin’ on a BURGER!

Smokey Vegan Beer Cheese

This is another one of those things that I’ve never had before going VEGAN, but I honestly can’t imagine it being better, so who cares!

We are gonna do a slightly smokey version, but if you can’t find any Smoked Gouda cheese, feel free to use whatever cheese you like. You can also use non-alcoholic beer for this, but other than that, there’s really no substitute as the beer lends a lot of flavor. I recommend a lighter lager, but feel free to experiment with whatever beer you like! The only kind of beer I wouldn’t recommend is an IPA as they are too bitter and taste like moldy socks.

For the cheese, you can either use vegan cheese shreds, or if you have slices you can dice those up. If you have a block, go ahead and grate it yourself! Any of those will work just fine.

And make sure you use unsweetened plant milk! I like Ripple the best!

You can also feel free to add anything spicy to this, or any seasonings you like. Other than the Beer, Cheese, Butter, Flour and Milk, you can really customize this to whatever you want. TOTAL CHEESE FREEDOM!

Also, you don’t have to eat this hot. You can let it cool in the fridge and spread it on crackers or even in a sandwich!

Smokey Vegan Beer Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp vegan butter
  • 2 Tbsp Flour
  • 1 cup plant-milk (unsweetened)
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 4 oz vegan cheddar
  • 4 oz vegan smoked gouda
  • 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1/2 Tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add flour a tablespoon at a time and whisk in between each tablespoon. Once all flour has been added, whisk thoroughly and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add plant milk 1/2 cup at a time and whisk in between each 1/2 cup.
  4. Whisk in Beer.
  5. Add all seasonings and whisk to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Add vegan cheese and stir until melted.
  7. Adjust seasonings to taste.
  8. ENJOY!

Notes

The Cheese can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days but is best served right away. Have fun!
